The Enugu State Governor, Barrister Peter Mbah says the National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, has remained pivotal in breaking ethnic barriers and fostering national cohesion.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai, stated this during the swearing in ceremony of the 2024 batch B stream 1, orientation course at NYSC camp Awgu.
While congratulating the corps members, he urged them to utilise skill acquisition, and reiterated the state government in ensuring that the mandate of the scheme is achieved in the state.
Earlier in an address, the NYSC Enugu state Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, maintained that the scheme does not condone any form of indiscipline and charged the corps to be good ambassadors of their family and the scheme at large.
Stressing the need for discipline, the Chief Judge of Enugu state, Justice Afojulu Ozeomena, represented by Just C.O Onovo, described it as the bedrock of society, urging the corps members to imbibe the principle of discipline in all areas of life.
Our Correspondent reports that 1472 corps members were sworn in by the Enugu state chief judge.
