The Enugu State House of Assembly Committee on Rural Development and Community Social Development Agency, has scored the Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, high in his performance.
The committee gave the commendation during a visit to the Ministry on oversight.
The Chairman of the Committee,
Engr. Gabriel Lebechi Eze, explained that the team was in the ministry to assess the progress, challenges and where to support the ministry deliver on its mandate to ensure that the people enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Eze said the committee was overwhelmed with the packages the ministry had, noting that the ministry had done well, commending Deacon Ogbodo for his outstanding performance.
The Chairman commended the ministry's conflict resolution approach urging the people to support the present administration’s efforts at bringing development to every part of the State.
He called for inclusion of house stakeholders for deeper verification that may include one-on-one discussions and community visit verification to ensure that the people enjoy adequate security and protection.
In a remark, Engr. Edeh Magnus, member representing Aninri thanked the Governor for appointing Deacon Okey Ogbodo as Commissioner in charge of one of the most sensitive ministries in the state.
Edeh stated that the ministry interfaces with communities people with different political differences, academic and religious differences which is always a crucial task to reconcile some of the psychological state of the minds of the people at the grassroots.
The lawmaker thanked the Hon. Commissioner for using his wealth of experience to handle some of the issues and petitions.
In his words, "the ministry under the leadership of Deacon Okey Ogbodo, has performed above average in terms of service delivery.
