De Norsemen Kclub International (DNKI), a global humanitarian organisation, has backed the Federal Government’s cashless policy, while urging deployment and upgrade of cashless technology to make the policy seamless.
This is contained in a communiqué issued by the organization on Saturday in Enugu after its 16th International Converge in Abuja, between Dec.13 and Dec.15, 2024.
The communiqué said that the humanitarian organisation agreed with the Federal Government that the policy would reduce crime and the circulation of fake currency notes.
According to the statement, however, the government should deploy and upgrade any technology that can make the implementation of the policy hitch-free/seamless in order to erase the suffering it placed on Nigerians particularly with the current cash crunch.
It called on the government to mitigate the hardships faced by the masses, noting that the suffering in the land occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy had spread frustration thereby causing humanitarian problems.
“Delegates called on the government to review its economic policies and make them people-focused and masses friendly, noting that the government can only govern the living, not dead citizens.
“DNKI expressed worry over the level of insecurity in the land, highlighting that no part of the country is in the real sense, safe at the moment.
“It noted that no meaningful socioeconomic and political activities could thrive when citizens live in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
“It, therefore, advised the government to prioritise security of life and property,” it said.
It encouraged members of the organization to remain industrious, creative, patriotic, disciplined and law-abiding anywhere they find themselves, adding that members to intensify their involvement in humanitarian service which is the foundation of the organization.
“The organization charges members to be responsible family men and commit adequate time and resources to their families as a stable and progressive family makes a stable and progressive nation.
“It also tasked members to be conscious of their health and go for regular medical checks; while identifying regular exercise as a way of maintaining good health and living a meaningful life,” it added.
The two-page communiqué was signed by acting International Publicity Secretary of DNKI, Mr Isidore Agughasi.
