The Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) has confirmed the granting of bail and reuniting of Ms Rhoda from the Bauchi Prison over accusation of blasphemy.
It would be recalled that, Ms Jatau was arrested by the State Security Service in May 2020 after she shared a video that condemned the lynching of Deborah Samuel, a Christian college student accused of blasphemy and set ablaze in daylight by Islamic fanatics in Sokoto.
She was accused of inciting public disturbance, “exciting contempt of religious creed,” and cyberstalking.
Her release was confirmed in a statement released on Friday by the CAN General Secretary, Prof. Samson Fatokun,
The statement read thus;
"Following the outcry from the Christian community in Nigeria, over the continued detention of Rhoda Jatu Ya'u in Bauchi Prison, the Christian Association of Nigeria, Nigeria Inter-Religious Council and Christian Solidarity World-wide Nigeria, have made swift intervention in the matter.
"We are happy to report that Ms Rhoda has been granted bail and subsequently released from detention today.
We have high hopes that the case will end in praise.
Let's continue to uphold her in our prayers.
Praise be to our God!, the statement added.
